Fairground on the Rhine

All along the Backfischfest week, you can enjoy yourself on the fest’s exceptional fairground. Get the thrill of one of the exciting international rides, have a decent meal and a mug of freshly tapped beer in one of the open-air taverns, and let it all hang out at one of the free-admission entertainment programmes of the spacious ‘Neuner’ party marquee. Taste some of the local winegrowers’ favourite white, red and sparkling wines, either in the open-air ‘Wormser Stiftskeller’ wine parlour or in the ‘Wonnegauer Weinkeller’ offering 400 red and white wines from the region and live music every night in a large wine marquee.

Of course, admission to the fairground is free.

The official opening ceremony on Sunday is followed by a great festival procession through the city’s streets to the Kisselswiese fairground, with a wide range of marching bands, businesses, clubs and societies participating.
