Five stages on five squares around Worms Cathedral are a platform for usually more than 40 renowned international bands and artists, presenting a broad spectrum of traditional and contemporary jazz, including styles from fusion to funk or from soul to blues.

A festival set in a non-pareil atmosphere, ‘Jazz and Joy’ is made perfect thanks to a diversified supporting programme for music lovers of all ages, but also a rich choice of culinary offers.

Organised by the City of Worms Department of Culture, the annual festival has drawn music enthusiasts from throughout the country since 1991. Consistency and a high cultural level of performances are the hallmark of this jazz festival.

Since 2002, Škoda Auto Deutschland have been sponsoring the Škoda jazz award. Overseen by the Landesmusikbeiräte of Rhineland-Palatinate and Saarland, this big band contest was held for the first time during the Worms jazz festival.

In 2004, no less than three special concerts featuring world-famous musicians were presented prior to the actual jazz weekend festival. The events on the festival Saturday and Sunday were given particular themes.

We would be delighted to see you back at the Festival!
