Drive in instead of around – Worms parking system
Which car driver wouldn’t like to get to the town centre by the quickest and most direct route?
Which inhabitant, visitor or pedestrian doesn’t feel bothered by the noise and the exhaust fumes of the cars?
The solution in Worms is the “car park direction system”, which makes the search for a parking space far easier.
With 23 „static“ signs and 18 „dynamic“ signs, you are given information quickly about the available parking spaces in the town centre.
The static signs show where the nearest car park is or point you in the direction of the nearest car park.
The dynamic signs show the number of free spaces in the car parks, all of which are only a few minutes walk from the town centre and are situated within the park ring and within the inner ring road.

Local Public Transport

"Take the bus – help the environment". With this motto, BR, the Rhine-Neckar bus company, transports both general passengers and, with its school buses, the pupils of the local schools. With timetables that co-ordinate with the rail timetables of the Deutsche Bahn, BRN passengers can change from train to bus or from one bus to another with just one ticket.

Rail Traffic

ICE - Station
Worms railway station is served by all trains, from the regional express to the ICE (high-speed express train) which means that you can reach all possible destinations from Worms.
The newly created Rhineland-Palatinate frequency service from summer 1995 has brought about considerable improvements to the local public transport system. Thanks to this, all trains run along the Rhine to Mannheim; the connection to Wiesbaden and in the direction of Cologne has been improved; the journey time to Mainz has been shortened by 6 minutes and the introduction of an hourly service between 06:00 and 23:00 from Alzey to Bingen has been very beneficial to rail passengers.
Rail passengers in Worms can also enjoy the fact that ticket sales have not been completely taken over by machines. There are also 3 counters where you can purchase a train ticket in the DB centre in the main station.
In the industrial area there is a freight connection with also joins to further connections over Mannheim (15 minutes) and Mainz (45 minutes). This means that goods of all kinds can be sent off from Worms by rail.

Shipping

Cargo ships – Pleasure boats – Sport boats

The trade harbour provides a fast connection to both North and South. The harbour area has a total area of 265.000m², the trading port itself has an area of 33.000m² and is suitable for all kinds of ship.
The bank of the Rhine also serves various pleasure boats as a mooring.
Not forgetting the many sports boats that are particularly active on “Father Rhine” at weekends and are moored in Worms floating harbour.
